Final Stats

DURANT, Okla. - The Savage Storm plated six runs in the first two innings of play on Friday en route to handing the West Texas A&M baseball team a 14-4 defeat at the Ballpark in Durant. The loss drops the Buffs' overall record to 8-33 on the season and their mark in Lone Star Conference action to 5-27.

WT did take an early lead, scoring a run on an RBI single from Will McLaughlin in the first inning to go up 1-0, but SOSU responded with three runs of its own in the home half of the inning.

Trailing 9-1, the Buffs attempted to rally in the top of the fifth, scoring on a run on a double from Darby Walker and a RBI single by Eric Lensing to cut the home advantage to 9-3. After a scoreless bottom of the fifth, WT plated another run on a single by Greg Shanks, making it 9-4.

That would be as close the visitors from Canyon could get as the Storm scored five runs during the final four innings to complete the victory.

Freshman Josh Lunsford (0-2) took the loss on the mound for the Buffs, allowing six runs in two innings of work.

The Buffs are back in action Saturday with a doubleheader against the Savage Storm beginning at 1 p.m.
