Buffs Drops Both Games of Doubleheader to Savage Storm

DURANT, Okla. - The West Texas A&M baseball team dropped a pair of games to Lone Star Conference foe Southeastern Oklahoma on Saturday. To start the day, the Buffs fell, 9-6, and in game two the Savage Storm's hot bats were too much for WT, as the visitors dropped their second game of the day, 13-3. WTAMU is now 8-35 on the season with a 5-29 record in LSC play, while the Storm improved to 26-17 and 23-12 in the LSC. West Texas A&M wraps up the four-game series with Southeastern on Sunday; first pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. Game #1 Recap (Southeastern Oklahoma 9, West Texas A&M 6) WT finished off their scoring with a three-run sixth inning highlighted by a Shanks three-run homer, followed by shortstop Brian Schupp's solo shot in the seventh. WT starting pitcher Billy Zeleznak fell to 2-6 on the season, while Savage Storm hurler Daniel Ingram improved to 5-1. Game #2 Recap (Southeastern Oklahoma 13, West Texas A&M 3) The Buffs cut into the Southeastern lead in the top of the third with a two RBI double by Darby Walker that scored Ben Edge and Kent Wright. Shanks continued his hot streak at the plate with his second homerun of the day with a solo shot to left center field in the top of the fourth inning, but Southeastern's bats were too much for the Buffs, adding four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. Savage Storm pitcher Rachel Lynn (4-1) threw six strong innings picking up the win, while WT's Bart Cannon falls to 2-5 on the season. |
