CANYON, Texas - The West Texas A&M men and women's soccer teams will host their 14th Annual Hat Trick Dinner to be held Friday April 4th at 7:00 p.m. at the Holiday Inn on I-40 East. The Hat Trick Dinner is a relaxing evening during which guests are served by their designated waiter/waitress, members of the WTAMU soccer program. Why "Hat Trick?" The meaning behind "Hat Trick" is that the soccer program has three goals to be accomplished by this fundraiser: 1) fun and fellowship, 2) alumni and local involvement, and 3) capital improvements for a WTAMU soccer-specific facility. To remain consistent with last year's event, we will attempt to keep the atmosphere of the evening formal and elegant. In addition to dinner, guests will enjoy an open bar, silent auction items and the famous - or sometimes infamous - tipping of the best waiters/waitresses in The main event for this year's dinner will be to celebrate the successful seasons that both the men's and women's programs had. This past season, WT men's soccer won their first conference championship in five seasons in addition to finishing first in the Midwest Region and hosting the first round of the National Tournament. When the final national rankings were released, This event is intended to be entertaining as well as profitable. Revenues generated from corporate sponsorship, ticket sales, auction items and tips will be used for the proposed plans to build a soccer facility on campus to be finished by the end of the summer. This facility will benefit the players, coaches, students, alumni and the community overall.
The Lady Buffs became the first ever No. 6 seed to emerge victorious at the Lone Star Conference Championships and claimed the program's fourth LSC title in its 12-year history, the Lady Buffs finish the 2007 season with an overall record of 13-7-1. Junior Elisabeth Markussen was honored as the first team forward on the NSCAA/Adidas All-Midwest region team, while teammates Kayla Sisco and Adi Stein were named to the second team.
On the men's side, the Buffaloes finished their season with an overall record of 17-3 and a Southwest Soccer Conference record of 7-1; the Buffs earned a share of the SSC title with rival
