CANYON, Texas - For the 16th time in program history and second straight under head coach Krista Gerlich, the West Texas A&M women's basketball team is headed to the NCAA-II postseason and the South Central Regional Tournament will be held in Canyon, Texas, as the Lady Buffs were selected as the region's top seed.

 

Lone Star Conference Champion West Texas A&M, which is making its fifth straight regional appearance, will square off against Northwest Missouri State during regional's quarterfinal round, which will take place on Friday, March 14. The Lady Buffs and Bearcats will take the floor in the day's fourth game, scheduled to tip off at approximately 8 p.m. The winner of the WT-NWMSU game will move on to play the victor of the No. 4 seed Emporia State and No. 5 seed Southwest Baptist match-up.

 

On the other side of the bracket, second-seeded Washburn will face off against No. 7 seed Angelo State and No. 3 seed Central Oklahoma takes the court against sixth-seeded St. Mary's.

 

The tournament will continue on Saturday, March 15, with the two quarterfinals contests, scheduled for 6 and 8 p.m. The winners will advance to the championship game, which will take place at the First United Bank Center on Monday, March 17, at 7 p.m.
