Lady Buff Soccer Faces Metro State in NCAA-II Midwest Regional Tournament



The Lady Buffs won the Lone Star Conference Championship last week and are seeded sixth in the NCAA-II Midwest Regional Tournament

CANYON, Texas - Lone Star Conference Champion West Texas A&M earned the six seed in the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Tournament and will travel to Denver, Colo., to play third-seeded Metro State (15-4-1) on Friday, Nov. 9 at 2 p.m. The winner of the opening match at host Metro State's Auraria Field will advance to play second-seeded Incarnate Word (17-2-1) in the second round on Nov. 11 at 2:30 p.m.

The Lady Buffs became the first sixth-seeded team in LSC history to win the conference title last week as they won three games in four days. WT beat Angelo State, 3-2, in a shootout to advance to the semi-final, where the women beat Midwestern State, 1-0. In the championship game, the Lady Buffs scored twice in just over three minutes to beat regular season champion and host Central Oklahoma.

In the other NCAA-II Midwest Region first round match-up, No. 4 seed Central Oklahoma (17-4-1) will face No. 5 seed Fort Lewis (14-4-3), with the winner advancing to play top-seeded St. Edward's (17-2). The winners of the second round games will advance to the Midwest Regional Final on Nov. 16.
