CANYON, Texas - After leading West Texas A&M in goals this season, with 14, junior forward Elisabeth Markussen has claimed regional honors as she has been named to the Daktronics All-Midwest Region Second Team. Markussen was previously honored when she was named the Lone Star Conference Co-Offensive Player of the Year in addition to being named to the All-LSC First Team after helping the Lady Buffs win the conference title.

Markussen has put her name in WT's all-time record books numerous times throughout her three years in Canyon. She is second in career goals, with 30, and third in career points, with 71. Additionally, her 31 points this season ties her career high, which puts her sixth all-time in points in a season.

Markussen led the Lady Buffs to the LSC Tournament championship on Nov. 1-4 as WTAMU became the first sixth-seeded team in conference history to win the tournament title. She notched the assist on fellow junior Danea Fontana's game-winning goal that lifted the women to a 2-1 victory over top-seeded host Central Oklahoma.

The Lady Buffs will attempt to keep their successful season alive as they play host Metro State in the NCAA Division II midwest Regional Tournament on Nov. 9 at 2 p.m., with the winner of that match set to play second-seeded Incarnate Word on Nov. 11. The second round match is slated to kick off at 2:30 p.m.
