Box Score

HAYS, Kan. - The Lady Tigers of Fort Hays State completed a sweep of the West Texas A&M softball team on Thursday afternoon, defeating the Lady Buffs 4-1 and 5-3 in doubleheader action at Tiger Stadium to take all four games of the non-conference series.

The Lady Buffs fall to 13-21 on the season and are off this weekend before returning to action on March 26, when they travel to Goodwell, Okla., to take on Panhandle State.

Game #1 Recap - (Fort Hays State 4, West Texas A&M 1)
WT took an early lead in the top of the third inning on a RBI single off the bat of freshman Kaitlyn Witte, but it would be the only run that the team could post in a 4-1 setback.

The Lady Tigers put a three-spot on the scoreboard in the bottom of the third and added an insurance tally in the home half of the sixth to give starter Kayle Rupa (6-5) all the support she needed.

Game #2 Recap - (Fort Hays State 5, West Texas A&M 3)
During the second game of the day, both Witte and junior outfielder Jessica Ruzicki collected three hits and drove in a run but it was not enough as the Lady Buffs were clipped, 5-3.

After the Lady Buffs scored a run on a fielder's choice in the top of the second, Fort Hays State put up three runs in the bottom of the third to take control of the game and send the Lady Buffs to their fourth straight loss.

WT senior Andrea Renteria (4-7) took the loss in the circle, allowing four earned runs on 10 hits.
