Russell McElroy, who has the longest coaching tenure in WTAMU history, begins his 10th season in 2004.
A Perryton, Texas native, McElroy earned a degree in sports and exercise science from WTAMU in 2002. McElroy is a vital part of the Lady Buff volleyball program. He executes practice drills on non-match days and also develops scouting reports on upcoming opponents during the season.

WTAMU has won the Lone Star Conference title eight times and advanced to the NCAA Division II South Central Regional Tournament in McElroy's 10 seasons with the Lady Buffs. He was also a member of the coaching staff in 1997 when WTAMU won the NCAA Division II national title.
