Women's Cross Country Finishes 3rd in LSC Championships



Kristie Hartsfield was the first Lady Buff to cross the finish line, placing 12th individually

COMMERCE, Texas - The West Texas A&M women's cross country team placed 3rd overall in the Lone Star Conference Championships in Commerce on Saturday afternoon as five Lady Buffs finished in the top 25. Sophomore Kristie Hartsfield crossed the finish line first for WTAMU with a time of 23:52.58, placing her 12th individually.

Senior Mariana Chavira placed 13th, just behind Hartsfield, with a time of 24:07.01, while senior Jisel Bailon came in 15th place with a time of 24:13.88.

Becca Rapstine's run of 24:47.77 placed her 21st, followed closely by Belinda Castanon's 25th place finish in 24:59.14.

Delinda Hill and Chelsi Ruiz also ran well, coming in 36th and 37th place, respectively. Hill finished in 25:30.33 with Ruiz crossing the finish line just behind her, in 25:31.26.

Dorane Young rounded out the race for the Lady Buffs, coming in at 25:31.26.

Abilene Christian won the LSC title with runners placing first and third individually, and Tarleton State came in second place overall.
